Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have uncovered and safely destroyed an improvised explosive device (IED) planted along the Dikwa-Gajibo road in Borno State.
The discovery was made during a routine patrol by personnel of the 81 Division Task Force Battalion on the Dikwa-Gajibo axis, according to a report shared by security analyst Zagazola Makama on Tuesday.
The IED was reportedly detected at about 10:10 a.m. on Monday, after troops spotted a suspicious object suspected to be an explosive device along the route.
Following the discovery, the troops secured the area and alerted the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team, which responded swiftly and carried out a controlled detonation of the device.
The operation was completed without casualties or damage to property.
The successful intervention is part of ongoing military efforts to prevent attacks involving explosive devices by Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists, who have continued to target security forces and civilians in the North-East.
The development further highlights the efforts of security forces to safeguard critical supply routes, protect communities, and ensure the safe movement of both military personnel and civilians in the region.
