Osun Victory Was ‘War’ Against 17 Governors, 50 Senators — Davido. Afrobeats superstar, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has described his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election as a “war” against a formidable political opposition.

Davido spoke on Tuesday while addressing journalists at the Adeleke family’s country home in Ede, following the governor’s victory in the August 15 governorship election.Congratulating Adeleke on his second-term victory, the singer said the governor faced an array of powerful political figures during the election.“Let me congratulate my governor for his re-election for the hard-fought battle. Let me not say battle but war, where you have 17 governors, 50 senators, House of Reps, I don’t know how many they were against one man and he came out victorious. God is good,” Davido said.He praised the people of Osun State for supporting Adeleke and for what he described as their determination to protect their votes from the polling units through the collation centres.Davido said the massive support shown to the Adeleke family during the election was emotional for him, adding that the governor’s victory demonstrated that leaders who serve their people can earn their support at the polls.“My uncle should be an example to all other people out there. It shows all other governors out there that if you work for the people, the people will be with you and God,” he said.The singer also disclosed plans to intensify his involvement in youth and sports development in Osun State.

As chairman of the Osun State Sports Trust Fund, he said he was considering initiatives including a recreation centre with football pitches, swimming pools and basketball courts.Adeleke secured re-election after defeating his major challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the August 15 poll.
