Okorochas Sues INEC,APC,Uzodimma Over Imo West Senate Ticket

2027: Okorocha Sues INEC, APC, Uzodimma Over Imo West Senate Ticket. Former Imo State Governor and former Imo West Senator, Rochas Okorocha, has dragged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Governor Hope Uzodimma before the Federal High Court in Abuja over the party’s 2027 Imo West senatorial ticket.Okorocha filed the suit, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1854/2026, on August 13, 2026, challenging INEC’s publication of Uzodimma’s name as the APC candidate for the Imo West Senatorial District election.

The former governor is contesting the outcome of the APC senatorial primary held on May 18, insisting that he won the exercise and questioning the basis on which Uzodimma was declared the party’s candidate.Okorocha is asking the court to determine whether INEC was bound by the reports submitted by its officials who monitored the primary and whether the electoral commission could validly publish Uzodimma’s name despite the reports allegedly indicating a different outcome. The legal action follows the APC primary in which Uzodimma was declared winner with 230,464 votes, defeating Okorocha in the contest. The suit has added a fresh legal dimension to the political battle between the two prominent Imo politicians ahead of the 2027 general election.
