The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Disu, has approved the redeployment of Commissioners of Police (CPs) to eight state commands and other strategic formations within the Nigeria Police Force.
The move, according to the Force, is aimed at strengthening operational efficiency, improving intelligence-led policing and advancing ongoing police reforms across the country.
The redeployments were announced in a statement issued on Thursday by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu. The postings received the approval of the Police Service Commission.
The newly appointed Commissioners of Police for the affected states are Afolabi Wilfred Olutokunbo (Abia), Ayodeji Faniyan (Plateau), Saka Adewale Ajao (Bayelsa), Ajo Geoffrey Ordue (Cross River), Nanna Oji Ama (Anambra), Patrick Daaor (Edo), Tani Murtala (Jigawa), and Samuel Erale (Delta).
The IGP also approved the deployment of senior officers to key departments and formations, including the Force Intelligence Department (FID), Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Department of Finance and Administration (DFA), Department of Training and Development (DTD), Police Academy and Police Staff College.
Among the officers assigned to strategic roles are CP Yemi John Oyeniyi, deployed as CP INTERPOL at the FCID, Abuja; CP Charles Ezekwesiri Dike, posted to the Department of Finance and Administration; and CP Abdullateef Ajape Yusuf, assigned to the Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), Force Headquarters, Abuja.
Other affected officers include CP Taiwo A. Adedeji, CP Ajayi Oluyemi, CP Bolanle Aremu, CP Ibrahim Lukunche Usman, CP Mohammed Hassan Ahmed, CP Rita Oyintare Oki and CP Ibrahim Umar D. Zungura.
The redeployment also saw CP Nelson Nwamana posted to the Police Academy in Kano, CP Mohammed Hassan Ahmed assigned as Deputy Commandant of the Police Staff College, Jos, CP Rita Oyintare Oki moved to the Department of Finance and Administration at the Force Headquarters Annex in Lagos, and CP Danbaba Mohammed Labbo deployed to the FCID Annex in Gombe.
Disu charged the newly deployed commissioners to use their experience to promote intelligence-driven policing, improve operational performance, uphold professionalism and strengthen cooperation with communities.
He urged the officers to remain committed to protecting lives and property while maintaining discipline, accountability and effective service delivery.
The police said the latest postings are part of broader reforms by the Nigeria Police Force to enhance operational capacity, institutional efficiency and improve policing services nationwide.
