Army Redeploys 19 Generals to Strengthen Operational EffectivenessAbuja — The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, has approved the redeployment of 19 senior officers as part of ongoing efforts to improve operational effectiveness, strengthen national security, and enhance the Nigerian Army’s capacity to respond to emerging security challenges across the country.The redeployment, announced in a statement issued on Saturday by the Army spokesperson, Col. Appolonia Anele, affects field commanders, commandants of military institutions, and principal staff officers at the Army Headquarters.According to the statement, Major General W.M. Dangana has been appointed the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division Nigerian Army and Commander of Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace, succeeding Major General E.F. Oyinlola.Similarly, Major General E.I. Okoro has been named the General Officer Commanding 6 Division Nigerian Army and Land Component Commander of Joint Task Force South-South Operation Delta Safe, replacing Major General E.E. Emeka.

The new postings also saw Major General J.R. Lar appointed as the Commander of Army Headquarters Garrison, while Brigadier General O.M. Oyekola assumes duty as the Acting Military Secretary (Army).

In addition, Brigadier General I. Waziri will continue to serve in the Office of the Chief of Army Staff as Chief of Staff.The Nigerian Army said the redeployment forms part of its routine command restructuring aimed at enhancing leadership efficiency, improving operational coordination, and reinforcing the Army’s readiness to address evolving security threats across the country.
