Documents Contradict Presidency’s Denial of Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council. Abuja — Official documents exclusively obtained by Saturday PUNCH have raised fresh questions over the Presidency’s claim that the controversial Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) never existed.
The documents indicate that the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) not only received and acknowledged correspondence submitted in the council’s name but also acted on it several months before the Presidency publicly disowned the body.According to the documents, the SGF’s office processed and forwarded a request by the council’s self-styled Director-General, Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, seeking office accommodation from recovered Federal Government properties under the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).The forwarding letter, dated November 21, 2024, was signed by the Permanent Secretary, General Services Office, Nnamdi Maurice Mbaeri, on behalf of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
Attached to the correspondence was an earlier letter dated November 7, 2024, in which Adeyemi requested office accommodation for the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council.Registry stamps on the documents show that the SGF’s office received the request on November 12, 2024, before forwarding it to the EFCC nine days later for consideration.
The forwarding letter, titled “Request for Office Accommodation,” informed the anti-graft agency that three Federal Government institutions had applied for office accommodation from recovered government properties, with the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council listed among the applicants.
The documents appear to contradict the Presidency’s public position that the council did not exist, suggesting that official correspondence submitted in its name was processed through government channels before the body was later disowned.
