The Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed a suit challenging the emergence of former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate for Kebbi State in the 2027 election.
Justice M. G. Umar, in a judgment delivered on Tuesday, ruled that the plaintiff, Abdulrazak Isa Iko, failed to establish that he participated in the ADC governorship primary election and therefore lacked the legal standing to challenge the outcome.
The court consequently dismissed the suit in its entirety, upholding Malami’s candidacy and clearing the legal hurdle against his participation in the forthcoming political contest.
Justice Umar held that the action lacked merit and substance, noting that only individuals with the requisite legal standing can challenge the conduct of a political party’s primary election.
The ruling effectively leaves Malami’s ADC ticket intact as he prepares for the 2027 Kebbi State governorship race.
