Atiku, Amaechi,ADC Inaugurates 63 Member Campaign Organization In Calabar.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has inaugurated a 63-member campaign organisation in Cross River State as the party build-up preparations for the 2027 general elections. The inauguration, held on Wednesday in Calabar, marks the commencement of the party’s mobilisation efforts aimed at strengthening its political structures, promoting its candidates and securing electoral support across the state.Speaking at the event, the National Coordinator of the Atiku/Amaechi Campaign Organisation, Mr Ekpo Okon, said Nigeria needed committed leadership to rescue the country from its worsening economic situation.Okon criticised the Federal Government’s removal of fuel subsidy and currency devaluation, arguing that the policies had increased the economic difficulties confronting Nigerians. He also questioned the utilisation of funds reportedly saved from subsidy removal and the impact of increased government borrowing, alleging that budget implementation had failed to translate into meaningful development.According to him, the government had not demonstrated how borrowed funds and subsidy savings had improved the living conditions of ordinary Nigerians. He further expressed concern over rising university tuition fees, arguing that the introduction of student loans had placed additional pressure on economically disadvantaged families. The ADC chieftain advocated subsidising local petroleum production through the supply of crude oil to domestic refineries at reduced rates to make petroleum products more affordable. He urged party members to intensify grassroots mobilisation and educate voters on the economic implications of government policies ahead of the 2027 elections. Also speaking, the ADC governorship candidate in Cross River State, Ambassador Nkoyo Toyo, said her administration would transform the state from one focused on survival into a thriving, people-centred society.Toyo disclosed that the party had developed a comprehensive manifesto centred on citizens’ welfare, economic growth, productivity, institutional strengthening and empowerment. She also criticised what she described as the growing use of religion in Nigerian politics, insisting that the ADC’s priorities included the rule of law, accountability, security, productivity and citizens’ empowerment.

The governorship candidate further criticised the All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing the ruling party of failing to deliver tangible achievements after 12 years in power and resorting to personal attacks against opposition figures.Earlier, the ADC Cross River State Chairman, Mr Godwin Effanga, described Toyo as competent and experienced, expressing confidence in her capacity to address the state’s development challenges.Effanga called on residents to look beyond party affiliations and support the ADC, while urging party members to intensify voter mobilisation and defend their votes during the forthcoming elections. The inauguration signals an intensification of political activities in Cross River State as political parties begin positioning themselves for the 2027 general elections.
