Ndume Urges Military to Focus on Borno After .
Ndume made the appeal during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, where he commended the rescue operation but stressed that several people in his constituency were still being held captive by terrorists.

The lawmaker said the military should now intensify efforts in Borno South to secure the release of residents abducted by insurgents.
“I want to use this opportunity to appeal to the military to shift their attention now to my senatorial district and help us get these people back,” Ndume said.

“Our people, our children in my senatorial district are under captivity. Forty-two of them. We have over 30 people from Lassa that were captured recently.
“We still have a leftover of over 50 people in another place. They released some out of the 400, and we still have some people in captivity that were kidnapped,” he added.

The senator’s comments followed the rescue of Oyo schoolchildren and teachers who were abducted on May 15, 2026. The victims spent more than 50 days in captivity before they were freed on Tuesday.

The abduction had drawn nationwide concern after one of the teachers was reportedly killed shortly after the attack, raising fears over the safety of the remaining hostages.
Ndume urged security authorities to sustain their operations and ensure that all kidnapped victims across the country are rescued.
