The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has corrected his past mistakes by returning to the political camp that produced him.
Wike made the statement on Tuesday while speaking with journalists after inspecting ongoing road projects in the FCT.
The former Rivers State governor dismissed claims that Fubara’s reconciliation with his political allies was an act of forgiveness after years of disagreement, insisting that politics does not operate on the basis of sin or wrongdoing.
According to him, Fubara made the right decision by recognising his mistakes and returning to the political family where he began his journey.
“He has no option but to return to the political family that made him. I don’t know what you mean by sin. In politics, there is no sin.
“If someone realises they made a mistake and decides to correct it, there is nothing wrong with that. Politics is not a sin. What matters is recognising that you were on the wrong path and making the right decision,” Wike said.
Wike added that he had earlier predicted that reconciliation between both sides would happen before it was publicly announced.
He noted that Fubara’s declaration of reconciliation would help strengthen efforts to mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu’s second-term ambition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
