Troops Rescue 25 Kidnap Victims in Katsina, ZamfaraTroops of Operation Fansan Yamma have rescued 25 kidnapped victims during separate operations in Katsina and Zamfara states.The victims were rescued on September 3, 2026, following encounters with terrorists and sustained military operations across the two states, according to the Military Information Officer of Operation Fansan Yamma, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja.In Katsina State, troops of Sector 1 encountered terrorists during a night patrol along Kwanar Kura in Sabuwa Local Government Area. The troops engaged the terrorists with superior firepower, forcing them to flee into surrounding bushes.The troops subsequently pursued the fleeing terrorists and rescued two kidnapped victims who had earlier been abducted along the Dandume-Damari Road. Two motorcycles were also recovered from the fleeing suspects.In Zamfara State, troops of Sector 2 rescued 23 abducted civilians during a fighting patrol on the outskirts of Wuya town in Anka Local Government Area.
The victims comprised three males and 20 females.Preliminary debriefing indicated that the 23 victims had been abducted from Gummi Local Government Area and held captive for about three weeks before their rescue.The rescued victims were evacuated for medical attention and further debriefing as the military continues operations aimed at disrupting terrorist activities and protecting communities across the North-West.
