The African Policy and Research Consortium (APRC) has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to nominate former President Goodluck Jonathan for the position of United Nations Secretary-General.The group said Jonathan possesses the leadership experience, diplomatic credentials and international reputation required to occupy the global office, describing him as a suitable candidate to represent Nigeria and Africa at the United Nations.
According to the APRC, Jonathan’s record in governance, peacebuilding and democratic engagement has earned him recognition on the international stage, making him well-positioned to lead the UN.The consortium called on the Federal Government to take the necessary diplomatic steps to support Jonathan’s nomination, expressing confidence that his emergence would enhance Nigeria’s global standing and strengthen Africa’s voice in international affairs.
