Tinubu Commends Security Forces After Rescue of 15 NYSC Members, Six Others in Kogi

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has praised Nigeria’s security forces following the successful rescue of 21 abducted persons in Kogi State, including 15 members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

The victims, comprising eight males and 13 females, were kidnapped last week alongside six other Nigerians.

Tinubu disclosed that the victims were rescued on Monday afternoon after a coordinated Search and Rescue (SAR) operation involving the Nigerian military, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), and local vigilantes.

According to the President, the operation led security operatives to the kidnappers’ hideout in the forests of Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State, where the abductees were recovered.

The rescued victims are currently receiving medical attention before being reunited with their families.
Tinubu said the security agencies had continued efforts to apprehend the fleeing kidnappers, assuring that those behind the crime would face justice.

“While the abductees have been safely rescued, our gallant security forces are still on the trail of the routed kidnappers, in line with my directive to sustain the pressure on all criminal elements,” Tinubu said.

“Those responsible will face the full weight of the law, and our security agencies will pursue everyone who aided this crime. My administration remains committed to ensuring that every Nigerian can travel across our country without fear,” he added.

The President commended the bravery of the combined SAR team and appreciated the patience and support of the victims’ families throughout the ordeal.

He further assured parents of NYSC members that his administration would continue to strengthen security measures to protect the lives and property of Nigerians.

Tinubu also applauded the efforts of the country’s security and intelligence agencies in tackling criminal activities across the nation.
