Senators are enablers of Tinubu’s ‘evil’ policies – Aisha Yesufu

Human rights activist Aisha Yesufu has accused Nigerian senators of enabling what she described as “evil” actions being carried out by President Bola Tinubu.

Yesufu made the remark in a post on her verified X (formerly Twitter) account on Friday, where she criticized lawmakers for what she called self-victimization in the face of Nigeria’s worsening security situation.

Her comments came in reaction to an earlier outburst by Kebbi South Senator Garba Maidoki, who lamented on the Senate floor that his constituents are being killed by bandits and called for urgent assistance.

Responding, Yesufu stated that senators should not portray themselves as victims, insisting they hold responsibility for national governance decisions.

“Senators should stop infantilizing themselves! They are not victims. They are enablers of whatever evil Tinubu is carrying out in this country. They are the ones giving him the power to do all the shenanigans he is currently doing,” she said.

She further argued that the legislature bears responsibility for empowering the executive, and therefore cannot distance itself from government actions.
