Resident Doctors Threaten Nationwide Strike from August 10 Over Unmet DemandsThe Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has threatened to embark on a total and comprehensive nationwide industrial strike from August 10 if the Federal Government fails to address its outstanding demands. The decision was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the association’s July National Executive Council (NEC) meeting, which commenced on Sunday in Gombe and was made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday night.
According to the communiqué, the association expressed dissatisfaction over the government’s handling of issues affecting resident doctors and warned that failure to resolve the outstanding concerns before the deadline would leave it with no option but to commence the nationwide strike.NARD called on the Federal Government to urgently engage with the association and implement measures to address its demands in order to avert disruptions to healthcare services across the country. The planned industrial action, if carried out, is expected to affect public hospitals nationwide and could disrupt the delivery of healthcare services to patients.
