Reps Order IGP to Produce Alleged PFIPC Fake Agency Mastermind Adeyemi Wednesday

The House of Representatives Committee investigating the controversial Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) has ordered the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, to produce the alleged mastermind of the fake agency, Mr Adeyemi Martin, before it on Wednesday.

The committee issued the directive on Monday after the Nigeria Police Force confirmed parts of its ongoing criminal investigation into the matter, including petitions submitted by the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President.
The petitions accused Adeyemi of allegedly presenting himself fraudulently as the Director-General of the purported Presidential Economic Advisory Council and the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council.

Chairman of the committee, Rep. Yusuf Gagdi, said Adeyemi’s appearance was necessary due to the seriousness of the allegations and their possible impact on individuals and government institutions.
Gagdi stated that the committee needed Adeyemi to appear before it to authenticate relevant documents and assist lawmakers in concluding their investigation.

“This committee clearly needs the suspected DG to appear before this committee. People’s names are involved. People’s integrity are involved. Institutional names are involved. Institutional integrity is involved,” he said.
The committee also directed its clerk to officially communicate the order to the Inspector-General of Police.

Earlier, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Basir Abdullahi, who represented the IGP, told lawmakers that investigations into the matter were still ongoing.
He, however, disclosed that the police had already filed an eight-count charge against the suspect before the Federal High Court.
