Police Arrest Suspected Impersonator During Stop-and-Search in Akwa Ibom.The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested a man suspected of impersonating a police inspector during a routine stop-and-search operation in Uyo.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday.According to the statement, the suspect, an indigene of Nembe Local Government Area of Bayelsa State residing in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, was arrested at about 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 5, 2026, along Atiku Abubakar Way, Uyo.DSP John said the suspect was intercepted while riding a Top Way motorcycle without a registration number and claimed to be a police inspector.She explained that when asked to verify his identity, the suspect presented a police warrant card bearing the name “Inspector Daniel.”
However, his conduct and responses aroused the suspicion of the operatives, prompting them to carry out a more thorough search.The police said further investigations are ongoing to determine the authenticity of the warrant card and the suspect’s claims, as well as establish any other offences that may be linked to the case.
