PFIPC controversy: Video of Adeniyi Adeyemi challenging Gbajabiamila resurfaces

An old video showing Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew, the self-acclaimed Director General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), challenging the Presidency and Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, has resurfaced.
The video, which emerged on Monday, has renewed discussions surrounding allegations of a N1.3 billion allocation linked to the controversial agency described by critics as a “ghost agency”.

In the footage reportedly from a late June 2026 press conference, Adeyemi questioned claims by the Presidency that PFIPC does not exist, asking how an agency allegedly without legal backing could appear in official budget documents.

“How does a non-existent agency appear in official budget documents? The budget goes through the Budget Office, ministries, and the National Assembly. At what point did this agency enter the record?” he asked.
Adeyemi further claimed that PFIPC operates several accounts with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), including domiciliary, pounds sterling, and Treasury Single Account (TSA) accounts.

“Is it possible to open accounts with fake documents at CBN, let alone a commercial bank?” he queried.
He also alleged that Gbajabiamila demanded 48 per cent of the council’s proposed N27.4 billion take-off grant, amounting to about N12.5 billion.
However, the Presidency has repeatedly denied the allegations, maintaining that PFIPC has no legal foundation and was never established by the Federal Government.
