The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River State has unveiled a 36-member strategy committee as the party begins fresh preparations for the 2027 general elections.The committee was inaugurated on Saturday October 3, at the PDP State Secretariat in Calabar during a strategic meeting attended by members of the State Working Committee, Board of Trustees and other party stakeholders.
The meeting was presided over by the PDP State Chairman, Hon. Venatius Ikem, who will also serve as chairman of the new strategy committee.The committee has several prominent PDP members among its members, including former Deputy Governor Efiok Cobham, Senator Prof. Sandy Onor, Rt. Hon. Itam Abang, Prof. Zana Akpagu, Barr. Alphonsus Eba and Hon. Florence Inyang.According to the party, the committee will advise the leadership and help develop strategies for its campaigns ahead of the 2027 elections.Speaking during the inauguration, Ikem described the period as a strategic moment for the party and said the committee would guide the PDP as it moves towards the governorship election.He also urged party members to work together and ensure that their programmes and activities are properly aligned with the party.“We are happy with the momentum the party has generated so far,” Ikem said, according to The Sun report, while expressing confidence in the party’s current activities.The PDP State Publicity Secretary, Prince Mike Ojisi, congratulated the committee members and urged them to bring their experience, loyalty and commitment to the task of strengthening the party ahead of 2027.
