Oyo Abduction: Military Hands Over Rescued Teachers, Pupils to Oyo Government


The Nigerian Army has officially handed over the rescued teachers and pupils abducted in Oyo State to the state government.
The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 2 Division, Nigerian Army Headquarters, Major General Chinedu Nnebeufe, presented the victims to Governor Seyi Makinde at the Oyo State Secretariat on Monday.


The victims, who were kidnapped on May 15, were rescued from their abductors’ hideout on July 12 after spending more than 50 days in captivity.


DAILY POST reports that the rescued teachers and pupils had been receiving medical care at an undisclosed hospital following their rescue.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Governor Makinde commended the security agencies involved in the operation and praised President Bola Tinubu for his support and commitment towards securing the release of the victims.


The governor expressed appreciation to the military and other security personnel for their efforts in ensuring the safe return of the abducted victims.
