The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Peter Obi, says Nigeria’s future depends on raising a new generation of responsible and visionary leaders com
mitted to selfless service and good governance.
Obi made the remarks in a Facebook post following an engagement with students of Madonna University, Okija, where he discussed leadership, governance, and national development.
He said the interactive session exposed the frustrations of many young Nigerians over poor governance and corruption, but noted that he was encouraged by the students’ optimism and desire to contribute to national progress.
According to him, leadership remains the most important factor in national development, stressing that effective leaders must demonstrate character, competence, capacity, and compassion, as well as a willingness to make sacrifices for the public good.
“Nigeria’s future depends on leaders who are committed to protecting lives, investing in education, creating opportunities and building strong institutions,” he said.
Obi added that building the country requires deliberate efforts to raise responsible and visionary leaders, insisting that such leadership would help deliver “the Nigeria of our dreams.”
