A notorious bandit commander, Kachalla Hare, has reportedly been killed during a confrontation with security forces in Zamfara State.
Reports said the Nigerian military eliminated Hare during an operation near Gusami village, located between Bungudu and Gusau Local Government Areas of the state.
Hare was accused of terrorising communities around Mada in Gusau LGA and parts of neighbouring Bungudu LGA.
The development was disclosed by North-West conflict reporter, Bakatsine, in a post on X, where he stated that Hare and his fighters engaged security operatives during the encounter, leading to the death of several bandits.
According to the report, Hare was captured alive after sustaining serious injuries. He was allegedly found with ammunition in his possession before he later died from his injuries in the early hours of Wednesday.
Bakatsine added that there had earlier been speculations about Hare’s death following the elimination of one of his associates days earlier, but the claims could not be confirmed at the time.
The reported killing comes as security forces continue intensified operations against bandit and terrorist groups across Zamfara and other parts of Nigeria’s North-West region.
