The Nigerian Army has rescued Mrs Adonkie, wife of retired Brigadier General Basil Adonkie, less than 24 hours after she was abducted from her residence in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The rescue operation was carried out following credible intelligence received by troops, according to a statement released by the Nigerian Army on Thursday.
The Army disclosed that its personnel advanced through the Aco Estate–Goza Community axis, where they made contact with the kidnappers.
It said the heavy pressure mounted by the troops forced the abductors to abandon their victim and escape into nearby bushes.
Mrs Adonkie was subsequently rescued and reunited with her family, while efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects.
The Nigerian Army assured residents of continued commitment to protecting lives and property across the country, urging citizens to provide security agencies with useful information to combat criminal activities.
