NCDC Has Approves 100k Weekly Payment Per Person To Support Individuals Placed Under Quarantine

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has approved a weekly payment of ₦100,000 per person to support individuals placed under isolation or quarantine as authorities work to contain Nigeria’s confirmed Ebola case in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).NCDC Director-General, Dr Jide Idris, disclosed the decision during a briefing in Abuja on Sunday, October 25, 2026. He said the financial assistance was introduced after people being monitored raised concerns about the cost of feeding, accommodation and maintaining their families while complying with public health measures.According to Idris, the agency is already providing accommodation and feeding support, but the additional stipend became necessary to help affected individuals meet their family responsibilities during the monitoring period. He described the payment as an emergency measure that would be reviewed as the response continues. The development comes as health authorities intensify contact tracing following Nigeria’s confirmed Ebola case. Officials said 53 primary contacts had been identified as of Sunday, including healthcare workers and people connected to the patient. Authorities are continuing surveillance and urging anyone contacted by public health teams to cooperate with monitoring arrangements.

Idris also called on state governments to prepare the financial and logistical resources needed to support people placed under quarantine during public health emergencies. Nigeria for more updates.#Nigeria #EbolaOutbreak #NCDC #NigeriaNews #trending
