Mutkut Charges North-East Troops to Sustain Aggressive Operations Against Terrorists

The Commander Infantry Corps of the Nigerian Army, Major General Godwin Mutkut, has charged troops of the 27 Task Force Brigade, Sector 2 of Joint Task Force Operation HADIN KAI, to maintain an aggressive and professional posture in the fight against Boko Haram terrorists and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).

Mutkut gave the directive during an assessment visit to the brigade headquarters in Buni-Gari, Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State.
In a statement signed by the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Tasi’u Abdullahi Abbas, the Army commander9 commended officers and soldiers for their courage, resilience and sacrifices in protecting Nigeria’s territorial integrity despite operational challenges.

He stressed that continuous pressure on terrorist groups was necessary to prevent them from regaining freedom of action.
“The troops must maintain a high level of vigilance, discipline, combat readiness and offensive spirit in all operations. There should be no room for complacency in the theatre,” Mutkut said.

The Corps Commander further urged personnel to remain disciplined and law-abiding while carrying out their duties. He warned against social media misconduct, revealing operational locations, smoking, drug abuse and other activities that could affect the effectiveness and reputation of the Nigerian Army.
Mutkut assured the troops that the Army leadership remained committed to improving their welfare, noting that effective leadership was critical to achieving success in military operations.
Receiving the Corps Commander, the Commander of the 27 Task Force Brigade, Brigadier General Mukhtar S. Mukhtar, said the visit would boost the morale of personnel.
He reaffirmed the brigade’s determination to sustain aggressive operations aimed at eliminating remaining terrorist elements within its area of responsibility.
