Jang Urges Politicians to Prioritise Character, National Unity Over Power. Former Plateau State Governor, Jonah Jang, has urged Nigeria’s political class to place character, faith and service above the pursuit of political power, describing power as temporary.Jang made the call on Saturday in Jos during the celebration of his 80th birthday and the public presentation of his autobiography, From Airman to Politics.The event was attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima, former President Goodluck Jonathan, governors, lawmakers, diplomats, traditional rulers and other political leaders from across the country.Speaking at the gathering, Jang reflected on his eight decades of life, military service and political career, stressing that the pursuit of power, fame and wealth should never take precedence over integrity, faith and service to humanity.

He maintained that while political office is temporary, a person’s character and contributions to society remain enduring legacies.Also speaking through a statement at the event, the Labour Party called on politicians to embrace issue-based campaigns, warning against divisive politics capable of undermining national unity and democratic development.
