Turaki-Led PDP Faction Submits Jonathan’s Name to INEC for 2027 Presidential ElectionA faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by Tanimu Turaki has submitted the name of former President Goodluck Jonathan to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general election. The faction said it manually submitted its list of candidates after the electoral commission allegedly declined to provide it with the access codes required for electronic submission.According to the group, the manual submission included the names of its candidates for the forthcoming elections, with Jonathan listed as its presidential flag bearer.
The development comes amid the leadership crisis within the PDP, as rival factions continue to lay claim to the party’s structure ahead of the 2027 general election.INEC has yet to publicly comment on the manual submission or the status of the candidates presented by the Turaki-led faction.
