INEC Displays 19 Presidential Candidates, Running Mates Ahead of 2027 Elections
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has displayed the details of 19 presidential candidates and their running mates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The electoral body released the credentials and personal information of the candidates in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2026.
The documents, contained in Form EC9, are currently available for public scrutiny at INEC offices nationwide, allowing citizens to examine the information submitted by candidates seeking the presidency.
INEC stated that the publication of the documents is a statutory requirement under Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act, 2026, which mandates the commission to publish the personal particulars, affidavits and credentials of candidates within 21 days of receiving nominations from political parties.
According to the commission, the move is aimed at promoting transparency and accountability in the electoral process ahead of the 2027 polls.
The displayed documents are accessible at INEC offices across the country, including state and local government offices, where members of the public can inspect the details and raise objections where necessary.
INEC is expected to release the full list of the presidential candidates, their running mates and the political parties they represent as part of preparations for the 2027 general elections.
