IGP Orders Police to Shoot Armed Suspects Carrying Illegal Firearms. The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has directed police officers across the country to shoot on sight anyone found carrying illegal firearms as part of renewed efforts to tackle insecurity.Disu gave the directive on Friday during a stakeholders’ meeting held at the Government House in Makurdi, the Benue State capital.

The police chief said the order followed President Bola Tinubu’s directive that the persistent security challenges in Benue State must be brought to an end.According to the Inspector-General, the police will intensify operations against armed criminals and ensure that individuals found in possession of illegal firearms are dealt with in accordance with the directive.He reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to restoring peace and security, particularly in areas affected by violent attacks and other criminal activities.
