Dave Umahi Dismissed Reports Of A Rift With Wike …… See Details In The Comments Section

Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has dismissed reports of a rift between him and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, insisting that their political relationship remains cordial.Umahi made the clarification on Wednesday in Abuja while addressing journalists on the Federal Government’s infrastructure projects and responding to reports of divisions within the All Progressives Congress. The former Ebonyi State governor described Wike as a progressive politician and said both men remained members of the same political family despite reported differences over political issues, including the Rainbow Coalition.“We need Wike as Wike needs us. So, it’s one family,” Umahi said, dismissing suggestions that their relationship had broken down. The minister said he believed that differences between him and Wike had been exaggerated by political opponents, adding that the focus should remain on national development rather than disagreements among members of the same political family.

Wike, a former governor of Rivers State and current FCT minister, has been involved in the Rainbow Coalition, a political platform he has described as a vehicle for mobilising support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election. The coalition has, however, generated disagreements among some APC figures over its implications for the party’s candidates at other levels.Umahi’s comments come amid broader political discussions within the APC ahead of the 2027 elections, with the minister maintaining that his relationship with Wike remains intact despite differences over political arrangements.
