Sowore says court affirmed DSS serves Nigerians, not individuals. The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has said proceedings at the Federal High Court in Abuja affirmed that the Department of State Services (DSS) is a national institution established to serve the Nigerian people and not a private security outfit for President Bola Tinubu or any individual.Sowore made the assertion on Wednesday while addressing journalists shortly after proceedings in his ongoing trial before the Federal High Court, where he is facing charges instituted by the DSS.According to the AAC presidential candidate, issues raised during the court proceedings underscored the constitutional role of the DSS as a state institution responsible for protecting Nigeria’s security interests rather than serving the personal interests of any political office holder.
He maintained that security agencies must operate within the confines of the law and remain accountable to the Nigerian people.Sowore also reiterated his confidence in the judicial process, expressing optimism that justice would prevail in the case. The activist is currently standing trial in a case filed by the DSS, with proceedings continuing before the Federal High Court in Abuja.
