APC , PDP Complete Candidates Upload As INEC Extend Nomination Deadline

APC, PDP Complete Candidates’ Upload as INEC Extends Nomination DeadlineThe All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have confirmed the successful upload of their presidential, vice-presidential and National Assembly candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) Candidate Nomination Portal following the completion of their nomination processes.

The development comes as INEC extended the deadline for political parties to submit the names of their candidates from the original July 11 deadline to July 14, giving parties additional time to finalise their nominations ahead of the 2027 general elections.Reacting to the extension, the APC said it had completed the upload of its candidates before the initial deadline, while taking a swipe at opposition parties that failed to meet the earlier cutoff date.

The ruling party argued that the inability of some political parties to conclude their nomination process within the stipulated timeframe raised concerns about their organisational capacity and preparedness for the 2027 polls.INEC announced the extension on Sunday, providing political parties with extra time to complete the submission of candidates through its Candidate Nomination Portal. The extension is expected to enable parties yet to conclude their nomination processes to comply with the electoral timetable ahead of the 2027 general elections.
