Akida Hills, a Nigerian mixed-use real estate and destination development company, has announced plans to transform the Jabi Lake waterfront in Abuja into a landmark leisure and tourism destination.
The project, which is expected to launch in December 2026, will feature a range of recreational, entertainment and lifestyle attractions, including what is described as the first-of-its-kind dancing musical fountain in West Africa.
The development is part of the ongoing transformation of the Jabi Lake waterfront into a premier tourism and lifestyle district. Akida Hills has secured a 3.36-hectare site within the approximately 14-hectare waterfront area for the phased development of leisure facilities and public experiences.
Speaking on the project, Founder of Akida Hills, Kayode Bamisile, said the initiative was designed to position Jabi Lake as a world-class waterfront destination while contributing to economic growth and job creation.
“Jabi Lake represents one of the most significant opportunities to create a world-class waterfront destination in Africa. Through this development, we aim to deliver experiences that attract residents, visitors, and tourists year-round while contributing to economic growth, job creation, and Nigeria’s tourism appeal,” Bamisile said.
The first phase of the project, scheduled for completion in December 2026, will include dining and leisure facilities, water-based activities, weekly entertainment programmes, a seasonal lights festival, and the signature dancing musical fountain.
The fountain is expected to combine choreographed water displays, synchronised lighting and music to create an evening attraction for visitors.
Akida Hills said subsequent phases of the project would introduce additional attractions, amenities and commercial partnerships as the waterfront destination continues to expand.
Upon completion, the development is projected to become a major centre for tourism, recreation, entertainment and community engagement, further enhancing Abuja’s reputation as a leading leisure and lifestyle destination.
Akida Hills said construction activities would proceed in phases, with more details on attractions and partnerships to be announced ahead of the December 2026 launch.
