Adeleke Alleges Police Transferred Over 60 Accord Leaders to Abuja, Nasarawa Prisons. Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has alleged that more than 60 leaders of the Accord Party were arrested by the police and transferred to correctional facilities in Abuja and Nasarawa State ahead of the August 15 governorship election.Adeleke made the allegation on Thursday while speaking at a peace summit held in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, as political stakeholders gathered to promote peaceful conduct during the forthcoming poll.
The governor questioned the decision to move the detained party members outside Osun State despite the presence of both federal and state courts within the state.He expressed concern over the development, describing it as a matter that could heighten political tension ahead of the election.The allegations come amid growing concerns over security and the political atmosphere in Osun, with calls from stakeholders for all parties and security agencies to ensure a peaceful, transparent and credible governorship election on August 15.
