A major tragedy was narrowly averted in Makurdi, Benue State, as a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) helicopter executed a safe emergency landing on a local farmland following a technical fault.According to eyewitness reports from the scene around Utur Tse-Igboji in the Bar Council Ward, the aircraft was forced down along the Welfare Quarters-Mopol 13 Ring Road corridor. Promptly rushing to the area, community members rallied together to support the officers on board, confirming that all crew members emerged alive and unhurt.
The incident comes on the heels of heightened public sensitivity surrounding recent military aviation mishaps across the country.
