The Commander Infantry Corps of the Nigerian Army, Major General Godwin Mutkut, has charged troops of the 27 Task Force Brigade, Sector 2 of Joint Task Force Operation HADIN KAI, to maintain an aggressive stance in the ongoing battle against Boko Haram terrorists and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in the North-East.
Mutkut gave the directive during an assessment visit to the brigade headquarters in Buni-Gari, Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State.
In a statement issued by the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Tasi’u Abdullahi Abbas, the Army chief praised officers and soldiers for their courage, resilience and sacrifices in protecting Nigeria’s territorial integrity despite operational challenges.
He stressed that sustained military pressure was necessary to prevent terrorists from gaining freedom of action.
“The troops must maintain a high level of vigilance, discipline, combat readiness and offensive spirit in all operations. There should be no room for co mplacency in the theatre,” Mutkut said.
The Corps Commander also urged personnel to remain disciplined and law-abiding while carrying out their duties. He warned against social media misconduct, revealing operational locations, smoking, drug abuse and other activities capable of weakening military effectiveness and damaging the image of the Nigerian Army.
Mutkut assured the troops that the Army remained committed to improving their welfare, describing effective leadership as a key factor in achieving operational success.
Receiving the Corps Commander, the
Commander of the 27 Task Force Brigade, Brigadier General Mukhtar S. Mukhtar, said the visit would boost the morale of personnel.
He reaffirmed the brigade’s commitment to sustaining aggressive operations aimed at clearing the remnants of terrorist groups within its area of responsibility.
