President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, has taken legal action against the purported Director General of the Presidential Foreign Promotion Council (PFIPC), Adeniyi Adeyemi, over alleged defamatory statements.
Gbajabiamila filed the suit before the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, demanding a total of N15 billion in damages over the alleged defamation.
In the suit, the former Speaker of the House of Representatives is seeking N10 billion as general damages and an additional N5 billion as aggravated damages.
He is also demanding N200 million to cover the cost of the legal action, as well as an order directing Adeyemi to issue a full retraction and apology to be published in five national newspapers.
The legal action comes amid controversies surrounding allegations linked to the Presidential Foreign Promotion Council, with Gbajabiamila maintaining that his reputation has been damaged by the claims attributed to Adeyemi.
