A chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Buba Galadima, has called on the National Judicial Council (NJC) to take decisive action against corrupt elements within the judiciary, insisting that “bad eggs” should be prosecuted and jailed as a deterrent.
Galadima made the remark on Tuesday while featuring as a guest on Arise Television’s Morning Show, where he reacted to a recent ruling of the Federal High Court in Lokoja, Kogi State, which reportedly attempted to deregister the party.
He urged the National Judicial Council to intensify internal cleansing within the judiciary, warning that failure to do so could damage the institution’s reputation.
“The judiciary needs to send the bad eggs among them to jail to serve as deterrent to others,” he said.
“I think the judiciary needs to do a lot of soul searching, otherwise some bad eggs within the judiciary will tarnish the image of the judiciary.
“I think certain judges must not go unpunished, and we as a political party are taking this calmly, and we presume that we will prevail at the end of the day. I don’t think this judgment can stand any test of time,” he added.
The NDC chieftain maintained that the party remains confident that it will eventually prevail in the matter.
