The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed Abdulhamid Kabara as the new commandant of its Niger State Command.
Kabara replaces Suberu Aniviye, who was suspended following the deaths of 37 suspected illegal miners in NSCDC custody in Minna.
The new commandant assumed office on Friday, September 18, amid growing concerns over the incident.
Kabara expressed sympathy to the families of the deceased, stressing that while the NSCDC remains committed to tackling illegal mining, “every human life matters.”
