2027: INEC Registers 9.3 Million Youths Ahead of General ElectionThe Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has disclosed that about 9.3 million youths were registered during the recent Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise ahead of the 2027 general election.The commission said the figure represents a significant number of young Nigerians who have newly joined the voter register and are eligible to participate in the forthcoming electoral process.INEC has continued to encourage young Nigerians to take an active part in the electoral process by obtaining their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and exercising their franchise peacefully and responsibly.
The commission has also intensified voter education and public enlightenment campaigns ahead of the 2027 polls, with emphasis on combating misinformation and encouraging peaceful participation.The registration of millions of young voters comes as political parties and candidates intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections.INEC is expected to continue updating and validating the voter register as it works towards ensuring a credible and transparent electoral process.
