Police, DSS, ICPC Cleared Me Of Allegations – Gbajabiamila

Police, DSS, ICPC Cleared Me of Allegations — GbajabiamilaChief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, has said investigations by security and anti-corruption agencies cleared him of allegations surrounding the purported Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, PFIPC.The controversy followed allegations by the self-styled Director-General of the purported council, Adeniyi Adeyemi, who had made claims linking Gbajabiamila to the organisation and its operations.Gbajabiamila denied the allegations and appeared before the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, in July to answer questions as part of the investigation. The ICPC said at the time that he was not arrested but voluntarily honoured its invitation. The anti-graft agency subsequently concluded that it found no evidence connecting Gbajabiamila or his office to the purported council. It said the appointment letter allegedly used to appoint Adeyemi as Director-General was forged and that there was no record of official correspondence between the Chief of Staff’s office and the organisation.

The House of Representatives Ad Hoc Committee investigating the controversy also found no evidence that Gbajabiamila authorised, established or participated in the activities of the purported organisation. The committee said evidence showed that the Chief of Staff alerted relevant security and investigative agencies after concerns about the organisation were brought to his attention. The development follows President Tinubu’s directive for an investigation into how the purported council operated and became associated with the Federal Government despite questions over its legal status.
