2027: OK Movement vows not to surrender structure to NDC. The Obi-Kwankwaso Movement, popularly known as the OK Movement, has vowed to maintain its independence and grassroots structure ahead of the 2027 general elections. The group said it would not collapse, merge or surrender its organisational structure to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), despite supporting the party’s presidential ticket of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso. The development follows a recent disagreement between the movement and the NDC over the constitution of a 59-member Presidential Campaign Council announced by the OK Movement. The NDC had dissociated itself from the council, saying the body was not authorised by the party. The party subsequently warned supporters and candidates to respect its hierarchy.Responding, the OK Movement maintained that it was an independent political organisation with its own leadership, structure and internal processes. Its National Secretary, Saadatu Sani, said the movement would continue to support Obi and Kwankwaso without surrendering its independence.

The movement has also said it would campaign for NDC candidates where it resolves to support them, while retaining its own organisational identity and grassroots network. The dispute comes as political groups continue preparations for the 2027 elections, with the NDC having recently authorised Obi and Kwankwaso to nominate key officials for the party’s Presidential Campaign Council.
