FG Vows to Protect Nigerians, Investments in South Africa . The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the lives of Nigerians and safeguarding the country’s investments in South Africa amid concerns over the treatment of Nigerian citizens in the country.

The Presidential Adviser on Foreign Affairs, Demola Oshodi, made the assurance on Tuesday during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, stressing that the government would not tolerate any form of humiliation of Nigerians or significant damage to the nation’s interests.”We will not accept any sort of humiliation or definitely any huge damages to our interests there. It’s just not possible,” Oshodi said.

He noted that the Federal Government had already rolled out measures to ensure the safety of Nigerians living in South Africa, adding that President Bola Tinubu had demonstrated the administration’s commitment by sending Nigeria’s ambassador to the country.”But I do assure you that we take the lives of Nigerians more seriously than even these investments that I’m talking about, and you can see that in the fact that the president has sent his ambassador there,” he said.Oshodi, however, ruled out taking extreme measures in response to the situation, explaining that Nigeria and South Africa share long-standing diplomatic and economic ties that require careful engagement.According to him, both countries maintain deep business and bilateral relationships, making dialogue and cooperation the preferred approach to resolving issues affecting Nigerians in South Africa
