The Presidency has stated that President Bola Tinubu and his administration are not intimidated by the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, insisting that he no longer poses any political threat.
Speaking during an appearance on the Mic On Podcast, the Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication to the President, Sunday Dare, said the administration is firmly grounded in performance and confident in its public support.
According to him, while citizens and opposition figures have the right to criticise the government, such criticism does not translate into fear or uncertainty within the presidency.
He said the administration would continue to respond to political statements made by opposition figures, adding that there is no justification for calls for President Tinubu to resign.
Dare also argued that the government remains focused on addressing national challenges and communicating its achievements to Nigerians.
He further claimed that Peter Obi, who was previously seen as a strong political contender, is no longer regarded as a threat by the current administration.
“We are standing on solid ground of performance,” he said, adding that the government is actively engaging with the country’s problems and will continue to do so.
The presidential aide concluded by insisting that the opposition candidate would not defeat President Tinubu in Lagos in future elections.
