Jigawa Commissioner Suspends Dutse Mega School Director Over Alleged Negligence

The Jigawa State Commissioner for Higher Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Isa Yusuf Chamo, has suspended the Director of Dutse Mega School, Mallam Abdullahi, over alleged negligence of duty.

The suspension was announced in a statement issued by the ministry’s Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Yakubu, and made available to journalists.

According to the statement, the action followed an unannounced inspection visit by the commissioner to some schools in the state to assess academic activities, administrative commitment, and teachers’ attendance.
During the visit, Prof. Chamo expressed dissatisfaction with what he described as poor commitment by some school administrators and the persistent absence of teachers from their duty posts.

The commissioner accused some school managers of failing to effectively carry out their responsibilities despite the government’s heavy investment in the education sector.
He consequently directed the Director of School Services in the ministry, Mallam Mustapha Abdullahi Ringim, to investigate the issue of teacher absenteeism and recommend further action.

The commissioner also ordered the immediate suspension of salaries of affected teachers pending the outcome of the investigation.
The Jigawa government said the measures were part of efforts to improve discipline, accountability, and the quality of education delivery across the state.
