OPEC Declares Support For Tinubu Re-election Bid

2027: OPC Declares Support for Tinubu’s Re-election BidThe O’odua People’s Congress (OPC) has declared its support for President Bola Tinubu’s bid to secure a second term in office in the 2027 presidential election. The declaration was made on Saturday by the late Dr Frederick Fasehun faction of the OPC during the organisation’s 32nd Founders’ Day celebration and the inauguration of its new National Executive Council in Lagos.Speaking at the event, the re-elected OPC President, Wasiu Afolabi, said the organisation contributed to Tinubu’s victory in the 2023 presidential election and would similarly support his second-term ambition.Afolabi said the decision was in line with the philosophy of the organisation’s late founder,

Fasehun, which, according to him, regarded a Yoruba person occupying the nation’s highest political office as a collective project of the Yoruba people. He also appealed to Nigerians from other regions to support Tinubu’s re-election, arguing that the President should be allowed to consolidate and complete the reforms initiated by his administration. The OPC leader specifically urged people in the northern region to reciprocate the support Tinubu gave former President Muhammadu Buhari during his two terms in office. The endorsement comes as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with political parties and interest groups beginning to mobilise support for various candidates.
