INEC denied us access code for candidates’ nomination – NDC

The Nigeria Democratic Coalition (NDC) has alleged that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) refused to provide it with the access code required to upload its candidates’ names on the commission’s nomination portal.

The party said the situation comes as it prepares to challenge a recent Federal High Court judgment ordering its deregistration.
According to the NDC, the court had directed INEC to deregister the party, a ruling it intends to appeal and seek a stay of execution against.
Speaking on the development, the party’s national spokesman, Osa Director, said officials of INEC had been approached to obtain the access credentials needed to complete the online submission of candidates, but the request was not fulfilled.

“We approached INEC to collect the access code to upload the names of our candidates to the INEC portal. They told us that they will get back to us,” he said.

Director added that the commission’s response left the party unable to complete the mandatory upload process before the deregistration order was issued.
He argued that the delay should not be interpreted as a failure on the part of the party, insisting it was due to INEC’s inability to provide the required access details in time.
He further stated that the party would return to the commission to renew its request while also pursuing legal measures to suspend the enforcement of the court ruling.

“We will go back there by tomorrow. I believe by tomorrow we must have filed a stay of execution in court,” he added.
The Nigeria Democratic Coalition (NDC) said it remains committed to participating in the electoral process despite the legal and administrative challenges.

The development comes amid ongoing political and legal tensions surrounding the party’s status following the court ruling.
