Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has declared Friday, August 14, 2026, a work-free day for public servants across the state ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.The declaration was contained in a circular issued on Wednesday by the state Head of Service, Elder Ayanleye Aina.According to the directive, the measure is intended to enable public servants who need to travel to their places of registration to make adequate arrangements and participate in the August 15 governorship poll.The work-free day covers public servants across the state, except those engaged in emergency and essential services, who are expected to remain on duty.Adeleke also urged workers, their relatives and friends to participate actively in the election and ensure that their votes are protected.
The governor commended the state’s workforce and labour leadership for their support for his administration, describing his government as workers-friendly.The declaration comes as political parties intensify mobilisation ahead of the closely watched Osun governorship election.
