Osun 2026: Adeleke Calls Oyinlola ‘Paperweight’, Says He Gave Former Governor New Car. Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has described former governor of the state, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, as a “paperweight” politician, following the latter’s reported decision to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the August 15 governorship election.Adeleke made the remarks while speaking during a town hall meeting in Osogbo, where he addressed questions about Oyinlola’s political position and reported support for the APC governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji. The governor alleged that Oyinlola had previously approached him, complaining that he did not have a car, after which he said he gave the former governor a new vehicle.According to Adeleke, Oyinlola subsequently moved from the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) to the APC and declared that he would not support him in the forthcoming election.
Adeleke said Oyinlola’s decision would not affect his electoral chances, dismissing the former governor’s political influence as insignificant. The governor also recalled their past political disagreements, alleging that Oyinlola had failed to support him during previous attempts to secure elective office. The remarks come amid heightened political activities in Osun State ahead of the August 15 governorship election, with Oyinlola reportedly backing the APC candidate alongside other former members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
