President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved changes in the leadership of the Border Communities Development Agency (BCDA), replacing a Wike-backed appointee with a former federal lawmaker, alongside other key appointments in the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC).
According to a statement by Presidential Spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, Dakorinama Alabo George, who was previously linked to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has been replaced as Director-General of the Border Communities Development Agency.
George’s exit followed his resignation to contest the 2027 Rivers State governorship election, a bid he later lost the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket to Kingsley Ogundu Chinda, former Minority Leader in the 10th National Assembly.
He has now been succeeded by former House of Representatives member Abdulrazak Sa’ad Namdas, who also previously withdrew from the 9th Assembly speakership race in support of Femi Gbajabiamila.
In related appointments, former Edo State lawmaker Patrick Obahiagbon was named Executive Director, Strategy and Commercial, of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company, replacing Ogbeide-Ihama.
The presidency also announced the reappointment of Chukwuma Umeoji as Executive Director, Corporate Services, of the NDPHC.
